Strengthening of existing Blood Banks- Modernization of 5 Medical College, 43 District level Blood Banks, 5 Blood Component Separation Units including 1 State of the Art Model Blood Bank in terms of providing them modern equipments, budget, better testing facilities and trained medical and Para-medical staff in blood banking and blood component.
In the year 2008, Voluntary Blood Donation is 94,656 units, due to Campaign for Awareness in public regarding voluntary blood donation and safe blood. A voluntary blood donation fortnight was observed throughout the state on the occasions of World Blood Donors Day in June 2008. Voluntary Blood Donation Day is being celebrated on 1st October 2008 & fortnight from 1st to 15th October 2008.

Counselors have been posted in eight Major Blood Banks of MP for revealing the HIV status of the Blood Donor. NACO has created one post of Counselor in each Major Blood Banks supported by NACO.
In Phase III, NACO is upgrading District Level Blood Bank Satna as a Blood Component Separation Unit (BCSU) and 7 District Level Blood Banks as Major Blood Bank at Chhindwara, Barwani, Khargone, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Shahdol & Vidisha.
